Publication Ethics Guidelines
This statement describes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing articles in our journal, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher of STMIK Palangkaraya. This statement is based on Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors created by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
This statement of scientific publication ethics is a statement of the code of ethics of all parties involved in the process of publishing this scientific journal, namely managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors . The determination of this scientific publication code of ethics is based on the Head of LIPI Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications, which essentially upholds three ethical values in publications, namely:
- Neutrality, which is free from conflicts of interest in the management of publications;
- Fairness, which is giving copyright to those who are entitled as authors; and
- Honesty, which is free from duplication, fabrication, forgery, and plagiarism in publishing;
The following are the duties and responsibilities of journal managers, editors, peer reviewers, authors, and journal website administrators:
Duties and Responsibilities of the Journal Manager
- Determine the journal name, scientific scope, periodicity, and accreditation if required.
- Determine the membership of the editorial board.
- Determine the relationship between publishers, editors, peer reviewers and other parties in a contract.
- Respect confidentiality issues, both for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and peer reviewers.
- Implement norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
- Conduct a review of journal policies and communicate them to authors, editorial board, reviewers, and readers.
- Establish code of conduct guidelines for editors and reviewers.
- Publish the journal regularly.
- Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publishing.
- Building cooperation and marketing networks.
- Prepare licenses and other legal aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor
- Bringing together the needs of readers and writers,
- Strive for continuous improvement of publication quality,
- Implement a process to ensure the quality of published papers,
- Promote freedom of opinion objectively,
- Maintaining the integrity of the author's academic track record,
- Submitting corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary,
- Responsible for the style and format of the paper, while the content and all statements in the paper are the responsibility of the author,
- Actively solicit the opinions of authors, readers, bestarial partners, and members of the editorial board to improve the quality of publications,
- Encourage the assessment of the journal if there are findings,
- Support initiatives to reduce research and publication misconduct by requiring authors to submit an Ethics Clearance form approved by the Ethics Clearance Committee,
- Support initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics,
- Assess the effect of publication policies on the attitudes of authors and reviewers and improve them to increase responsibility and minimize mistakes,
- Having an open mind to new opinions or views of others that may conflict with personal opinions,
- Not to defend one's own, the author's or a third party's opinion which may result in a non-objective decision,
- Encourage authors/writers, so that they can make improvements to the paper until it is suitable for publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Reviewer
- Receive an assignment from the editor to review the paper and submit the results of the review to the editor, as material for determining the eligibility of a paper for publication.
- Reviewers may not review papers in which they are directly or indirectly involved.
- Maintain the author's privacy by not disseminating the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations by providing criticism, suggestions, input, and recommendations
- Encourage the author/writer to make improvements to the paper.
- Review the corrected paper in accordance with predetermined standards.
- The paper is reviewed in a timely manner according to the publication's style based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legality, conclusions, etc.).
- Identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Any assertion that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. Reviewers should also inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they are personally aware.
Duties and Responsibilities of Authors/Authors
- Ensure that those included in the list of authors/writers meet the criteria as authors/writers.
- Take collective responsibility for the work and content of the article including methods, analysis, calculations and details.
- State the origin of resources (including funding), either directly or indirectly.
- Explain the limitations of the research.
- Respond to comments made by peer reviewers in a professional and timely manner.
- Notify the editor if you wish to withdraw your paper.
- Make a statement that the paper submitted for publication is original, has not been published anywhere in any language, and is not in the process of being submitted to any other publisher.
- If the work involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment that have unusual hazards associated with their use, the author should clearly identify these in the manuscript.
- If an author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, it is the author's obligation to notify the journal editor or publisher immediately and work with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Website Administrator Duties and Responsibilities
- Create the journal website;
- Configure the journal website system;
- User account management for editors, reviewers, and authors;
- Manage journal features;
- View statistical reports; and
- Upload or publish accepted papers.
